I have lived in different parts of New York State my whole life, and have been seriously creating art since I was 15.  My husband is a musician and we work creatively from our studio/class space/gallery “Boburka Studios” in Cohoes, NY.  Our first studio was located at Harmony Mills prior to it being renovated as lofts.  We were happy to be back in a mill building located on McElwain.  I have lived in Round Lake for the past 22 years, and I have been a visual arts teacher in the Schenectady School District and taught at every grade level for the past 25 years.  I have been creating art for the past 35 years, and in the past nine or so years, I have been able to put more concentrated time and energy into exhibiting my work.   During my first months in Cohoes I was invited to enter the Cohoes Artist Showcase, and entered again the next year.  After helping last year with building panels and other tasks I decided to join the Choose Cohoes for Art Committee and have been part of the committee for the past year.  I am interested in continuing to grow the Scholarship fund that we started this year.

Kathy

Kathy Klompas

Kathryn Klompas is the owner of Ragged Edge Printmaking Studio on Remsen Street in the heart of Cohoes, a fully equipped art studio with complete facilities for green printmaking.

Her art explores the expressive use of color, mark-making and surface design on paper and textiles, employing printmaking on paper and fabric, stitching and mixed media collage.  Observing patterns, textures and structures through the lens of a camera often influences and informs her art.

Kathy finds sharing her studio space with other artists is inspiring and energizing.   She regularly invites other artists to come together, offering supportive space for diverse creative work across the Cohoes regional art community.
